Hardware

Definition: The physical components of a computer system that you can see and touch, made from electronic parts.
Function: Executes instructions, processes data, and provides the platform for software.
Examples: CPU, RAM, motherboard, monitor, mouse, keyboard, hard drive.

Software

Definition: A collection of code, instructions, and programs that tell hardware what to do.
Function: Enables hardware to perform specific functions, from running the operating system to playing games.
Examples: Operating Systems (Windows, macOS), applications (Word, Chrome), games, drivers.

Interdependence

Hardware needs software to know what tasks to perform, and software needs hardware to run on.
You can't use software without hardware (no device to run it), and hardware is useless without software (just a collection of parts).

I. Computer Fundamentals & Hardware Basics

Introduction: History, types of computers, basic electricity (AC/DC).
Components: CPU, RAM, ROM, Motherboard, SMPS, Storage (HDD, SSD), Input/Output Devices (Keyboards, Monitors, Printers).
PC Assembly: Assembling and disassembling a PC, installing components.
BIOS/UEFI: Setup, configuration (boot order), POST (Power-On Self-Test).

II. Software Fundamentals & Operating Systems

Software Types: System software vs. Application software.
Operating Systems (OS): Introduction to Windows & Linux (GUI, user interface).
OS Installation: Formatting, installing Windows/Linux, drivers.
OS Management: File/directory management, settings, utilities (Task Manager, Disk Management).

III. Networking Basics & Configuration

Concepts: LAN, WAN, MAN, Topologies, OSI/TCP-IP Models, Protocols.
Devices: Cables (Ethernet), Connectors, Hubs, Switches, Routers, NICs.
Configuration: IP addressing (IPv4), Subnetting, TCP/IP setup, File/Printer Sharing, Basic Security.

IV. Troubleshooting & Maintenance

Hardware: Diagnosing faulty components (motherboard, RAM, power supply) using tools (multimeter).
Software: Driver issues, OS errors, virus removal, password recovery, data recovery, backups (bootable USBs, DVD burning).
Network: PING, ipconfig, basic network security (firewalls, antivirus).
